Instructional Approach
I assess a student’s skills in order to know how to create an instructional plan. I ask students to describe or explain what they are learning in their own words and teach them how to use self-monitoring techniques. My approach emphasizes hands-on, inquiry-based learning, and has clear expectations and procedures for every lesson. In my classroom students will benefit from:
- Multi-sensory instruction
- Use of performance benchmark to measure progress toward academic goals
- Utilizing a student's strengths to build skills in the student’s area of weakness
- Allowing a child's natural curiosity to promote learning
- Seeking to provide a joyful experience
- Seeking to create life long learners and critical thinkers
