Instructional Approach

I assess a student’s skills in order to know how to create an instructional plan. I ask students to describe or explain what they are learning in their own words and teach them how to use self-monitoring techniques. My approach emphasizes hands-on, inquiry-based learning, and has clear expectations and procedures for every lesson.

In my classroom students will benefit from:
  • Multi-sensory instruction
  • Use of performance benchmark to measure progress toward academic goals
  • Utilizing a student's strengths to build skills in the student’s area of weakness
  • Allowing  a child's natural curiosity to promote learning
  • Seeking to provide a joyful experience
  • Seeking to create life long learners and critical thinkers
Additional information on the techniques I use is available on the curriculum page.
